On 30 May 2018 the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation held its regular meeting.
About the dates of the upcoming election campaign
As Secretary of the CEC of Russia Maya Grishina informed, on 4 June 2018 the CEC of Russia would hold a meeting to consider the presidential election campaign expenditure report, which would be submitted to both chambers of the Council of the Federation on the same day.
“So, on 4 June 2018 the presidential election campaign of this year will terminate”, she said.
The Secretary of the CEC of Russia also said that on 14 June 2018 the CEC of Russia would hold a meeting to call additional election to the State Duma (lower chamber of Russian parliament), and this resolution would be published on 15 June.
“So, the additional election campaign devoted to election of members of the State Duma will start”, she said.
About the “Mobile voter” mechanism
Deputy Chairperson of the CEC of Russia Nikolai Bulaev said that many regional elections to public authorities would take place this year simultaneously with the additional elections to the State Duma in four regions.
“These election campaigns should be held according to the same rules”, he said, “We held the single Election Day in 2017, we’ve held the presidential campaign, and I don’t see any reason to have the “Mobile voter” mechanism’s rules changed this year in some regions. It’s essential that the mechanism be synchronized and functioned consistently in all election commissions.”
