The State Duma in the first reading adopted bills on remote electronic voting and digital polling stations in Moscow

On 16 April 2019 the deputies of the State Duma considered the draft laws on innovations in the electoral process.

The draft laws “On the creation of digital polling stations in the city of Federal importance Moscow during the elections in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation” and “On the experiment on the organization and implementation of remote electronic voting in the elections of Deputies of the Moscow city Duma of the seventh convocation” were adopted in the first reading.

The creation of digital polling stations will allow citizens from regions where gubernatorial elections and by-elections of Deputies of the State Duma will be held in September to vote outside the region, namely, in Moscow.

The experiment on remote electronic voting will allow the voter to vote with the help of a special service created on the regional portal MOS.RU, without the use of a paper ballot and personal presence at the polling station.

Also a bill “On amendments to certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation” concerning the implementation of the rights of voters and the improvement of the powers of election commissions was adopted in the first reading.
