28.06.2019

On 28 June 2019 the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation held its 208th regular meeting.

On the monitoring of the situation in municipalities of St. Petersburg

Opening the meeting, the Deputy Chairperson of the CEC of Russia Nikolay Bulaev spoke about the results of monitoring by the Working group of the CEC of Russia of activities of election commissions of municipalities of St. Petersburg.

“The actions of the CEC of Russia, of the St. Petersburg Election Commission, the tough assessment given by the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation to everything that is happening in the city, are absolutely necessary in the situation in which the campaign for the election of deputies of municipalities in St. Petersburg is proceeding now. These actions at the current stage are quite sufficient for the process to go back to normal,” said Nikolay Bulaev.

The Chairperson of the St. Petersburg Election Commission Viktor Minenko said that the organization of activities of the election commissions of municipalities is under constant control of the Municipal Election Commission.

“Violations of the electoral legislation were revealed in 10 out of 109 election commissions,” said Victor Minenko. “In case of four commissions the documents were sent to the Prosecutor's office of St. Petersburg and the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg to verify the circumstances and take action”.

The member of the CEC of Russia Evgeny Shevchenko noted that work continues as usual, in strict accordance with the legislation, in vast majority of election commissions of municipalities.

On the complaints of the Electoral Association “Karachay-Cherkess regional office of political party ‘Party of Russia's Revival’”

The CEC of Russia received complaints from representatives of the Electoral Association “Karachay-Cherkess regional branch of the political party ‘Party of Russia's Revival’”, as well as a collective appeal of candidates for deputies of the People's Assembly (Parliament) of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic of the sixth convocation about the resolution of the Election Commission of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, which denied certification of the list of candidates for deputies of the People's Assembly for the said Electoral Association.

“The basis for the decision of the Working group of the CEC of Russia on consideration of complaints regarding the branch of the ‘Party of the Revival of Russia’ in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic was the discrepancy of the submitted documents to the charter of the party in terms of matching the list of candidates,” said Yevgeny Shevchenko.

The CEC of Russia decided to leave unchanged the resolution of the Election Commission of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic of 21 June 2019 № 69/469-6, and the complaints of the Electoral Association “Karachay-Cherkess regional branch of the political party ‘Party of the Revival of Russia’” without satisfaction.
