On 16 December 2020, a regular meeting of the CEC of Russia was held.
The Head of the Central Election Commission summed up the results of the year and noted that the outgoing year was very eventful for the CEC of Russia. Two significant campaigns took place, during which electoral innovations were successfully applied.
“Sociological services have confirmed positive dynamics, growth of confidence in the elections and the electoral system. Naturally, all positive factors do not calm us down against the background of the difficulties that we have experienced,” noted Ella Pamfilova. - We carefully study all shortcomings, mistakes, remarks, proposals of interested experts, social activists, parties. We will all move forward together."
The Head of the Commission expressed the hope that next year, in which a large-scale federal campaign and many regional campaigns lie ahead, will be successful for the electoral system of the Russian Federation in terms of preparing and holding free and fair elections, and ensuring the reliability of their results.
Ella Pamfilova spoke about the Temporary Regulations on the Specifics of Voting for Several Days in a Row developed by the Central Election Commission of Russia.
“To ensure the sanitary and epidemiological safety of citizens, our colleagues - the election commissions of the regions - should be able to hold voting for several days in a row,” the Head of the Central Election Commission explained.
The Temporary Regulations are supposed to be applicable until 30 May 2021. The Head of the CEC of Russia noted that in the future it will be finalized taking into account the experience of the election organizers and after consultations with experts in order to adopt the amended document before the single voting day in 2021.
